Flexible working warning from TURK- IS It should not degrade workers rights

TURK-IS President Ergun Atalay drew attention to the fact that flexible working styles that are envisaged to be implemented and encouraged within the scope of employment-related policies and measures in the New Economy Program should not undermine workers' rights.

Chairman Ergun Atalay made a written statement on behalf of the TURK-IS Board of Directors. Atalay pointed out that job and income security is a priority for employees during the Covid-19 outbreak, and stated that the measures envisaged to be implemented to prevent unemployment and increase employment are not expected to reopen the rights of workers.

Reminding that in the New Economy Program (YEP) covering the period of 2021-2023, it was stated that the Employment Shield Package, which also includes the structural regulations regarding the labor market, will be implemented, Atalay said that the envisaged flexible working styles should not undermine workers' rights.

THE SUBJECT OF FLEXIBILITY SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BETWEEN EMPLOYER AND EMPLOYER

"Among the measures in the YEP, it is envisaged that 'providing more flexible conditions to facilitate the employability of young people under 25 and employees over 50.' The issue of flexibility is one of the most important issues that should be discussed through social dialogue between the employer and the employee. "

"As Covid-19 epidemic in most countries that are experiencing the economic crisis, because the most important problem in Turkey, this is to protect the jobs of workers in the crisis environment. More and during epidemics there are difficulties in providing better business widespread unemployment and experienced in providing new business opportunities hardship While it is getting harder and harder, the way out of the crisis should not be sought in the loss of rights of the employees. It cannot be successful with the policies of low labor costs and thus further flexibility of the labor market.
